In the first game children did the fishing as fisherman , so they took the fish from the water to another place and the objective of this game was showing them how fishing is bad for the eco system and biodiversity.

In the second game -so funny- children did a line and everyone had bowl and he or she had to put the water in the bowl of another person without looking behind him or her.

The third game race on a path with obstacles children had to take food and returned to the first point of path. The objective of this game was to show them how fish find difficulties to take food in the sea because there is a lot of dangers for them when they search food.

After the last time in Ieranto all the children were ready for a new adventure! We did a trekking from Saint Agata to Crappola and we saw a lot of beautiful views, mountain, sea, trees…

When we arrived to Crappola, we started to clean the beach. Later we started a little party and we used some types of rubbish (plastic , wood , rocks…) like instruments, to play an amazing music together with the parents. It was an amazing party.

After the party we had lunch all together near to the beach and at the same time we found a boat so we took it and did tours with the children! Surely they enjoyed every moment of the tour!

After lunch, a boat arrived to take us to Massa Lubrense. We were so happy together in the middle of the sea.

Finally, we arrived to Massa Lubrense and everybody was ready for the big game of treasures. They were so excited and motivated, especially because all of them wanted to win the treasure so we prepared a lot of funny games for them. There were four teams composed of five people together with one of the project MARE members. We ran, we laughed, we lived a very funny moments together

Laboratory 4: The Molluscs

A green van stops. A temperature is rising. Six guys, steel in eyes and hands full of cardboard boxes. What do they want? They come for your children.

Today is Monday and it means new laboratory full of Molluscsc and its main three classes: Cephalopoda, Gastropoda, Bivalvia. We open today´s lesson with competition between three teams, we summarize the knowledge of the previous three families: Porifera, Cnidari, Echinodermi.

Immediately after it is time for the first game. The four teams and fourty octopuses around square. Find the octopus which is a master at hiding. Do you know that the octopus passes through each hole that is at least as great as of her eye or that no octopus can live in fresh water?

IMG_2482

The second game is focused on Bivalvia because most of them bury themselves in sediment. So do not hesitate child and explore what is inside sand. The last game is hunting. Bivalvia have laterally compressed bodies enclosed by a shell consisting of two hinged parts and snails from Gastropoda family have just one external shell big enough that the soft parts can withdraw completely into it. Of course that Gostropoda family is not represented by snails but also by slugs and other different organisms. And what the hunting game is about? Every child chooses who is and takes one cardboard box or two of them. These children try to move. Do not let octopuses eat you, child! Be careful and hide yourself everytime when a shadow flies above you.

At the end of the evening you could listen to the tales about Echinodermata written by children.

A cleaning of Tordigliano beach

Tordigliano, in the municipality of Vico Equense and just a few miles from Positano, is one of the wildest and most beautiful beaches of the Amalfi coast. Off its shore you can only see the sea and the mountains: there is not a single house nearby: While at the beach you cannot see the road that takes you to this amazing place where you can find yourself alone with nature. This is why the arrival is not very easy, there is a path that takes you from the mountain to the sea. Without doubt it is a very special place in a beautiful but too touristic coastline.tordigliano

Conservancy and cleaning of the coast is very important in general and even more in such a special and wild place. The Marine Park of Punta Campanella is always engaged in all kind of activities for the improvement of the marine situation and has of course participated in the clean-up days in Tordigliano, together with the volunteers of project MARE, the Sant’Anna Institute and the Associazione Macchia Mediterranea di Positano.

In this beach often appear large amounts of waste during winter storms, which are added to those left by bathers. Thus, one of the most beautiful pearls of the coast gets ruined by plastic bags and bottles. The program also included the cleaning of the paths leading to the beaches. The collected waste, about half a ton, was taken by sea with the help of boats made available to the Associazione Macchia Mediterranea di Positano and the collaboration of the Municipality of Positano for garbage collection and disposal.

It was a very important day at work that ended up with a great lunch on the beach at Positano offered by the Associazione Macchia Mediterranea di Positano. Many thanks to all the people who worked under the sun to get a more beautiful and natural place for all of us to enjoy!IMG_6181
